02 The perspective
Look again at what we call normal.
My name is Patrick Klaassen. I am an independent author, entrepreneur and systems thinker from South Africa.
For years, I have watched people from every walk of life struggle within systems they never consciously chose, accepting assumptions they inherited long before they were old enough to question them.
My work is an invitation to look again at what we believe, how we live, what we call normal, and who taught us to call it that.
I write to explore the invisible structures that shape human lives, and to ask whether the freedom and free will we so confidently claim are truly ours, or simply freedoms we have never learned to exercise.
03 The systems
The structures become invisible when we stop noticing them.
Money
The systems of value, debt and exchange that begin shaping our choices long before we understand them.
Culture
The assumptions that quietly define what a community calls acceptable, successful or normal.
Power
The structures that influence who decides, who benefits and who learns to comply.
Time
A tool created to measure life that increasingly seems to determine how life should be lived.
04 The intention
Not a call to disorder.
The purpose of questioning a system is not automatically to destroy it.
It is to see it clearly enough to decide whether it still serves the people it was created to serve, and whether our participation in it is a conscious choice or simply an inherited habit.

05 The work
The questions became books.
The books are an attempt to trace the lines of these systems back to their source, and an invitation to compare notes with everyone else who’s noticed them too.
